Boat Parade of Lights

As our “Home for the Holidays in Savannah” posts continue, head down to River Street Saturday, November 27 before 7pm to grab something to eat and an adult beverage (thank you, Savannah, for that open container law). Find a seat right along the river and wait for the splendor to begin!

Over 7,000 viewers will gather on River Street this year to watch more than 40 boats decorated in holiday cheer parade the Riverfront at 7 p.m., culminating in an amazing fireworks show. We encourage revelers to hop aboard the Georgia Queen Riverboat as it leads the parade or enjoy VIP Viewing from Plant Riverside with Fabulous Entertainment, St. Nick & a smorgasbord of holiday fare.

JULY 4th

Freedom Floats Boat Parade

This year on July 4th, freedom-loving boaters will celebrate independence day with an All-American Boat Parade presented by Freedom Boat Club – passing the official judging at Plant Riverside between 3:30 and 5 p.m. American flag-cladded vessels will set sail on Independence Day starting at Elba Island at 3pm then head across the river to the Official Judging and Celebration at Plant Riverside District. Organized by Savannah Waterfront Association.

Independence Day Fireworks Show

Savannah’s Waterfront has announced they will host the annual Independence Day Fireworks Show on Sunday, July 4th at 9:15 pm.

“There’s always a reason to come down to Savannah’s Waterfront, but we are especially excited about this show as it’s the first event we’ve hosted in over a year,” said Julie Musselman, Executive Director. “Fireworks shows are always the highlight of July 4th, and we are thrilled to bring this free event to our community.”

As we celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, the show is not only entertaining but also symbolic of our freedom in the United States. There will be several opportunities to celebrate our nation’s birthday on Savannah’s Waterfront, including live entertainment at Plant Riverside District, dinner and drink specials at many waterfront restaurants, and the Freedom Floats boat parade. Merchants are looking forward to having spectators enjoy the many shopping and dining options along the waterfront over the holiday weekend.

On July 4th, the City of Savannah will be offering a flat rate of $5 parking in city garages and the Savannah Convention Center will offer $5 self-parking. Note that parking at the Savannah Convention Center is limited due to construction and the building will not be open. Spectators on the waterfront are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets; however, coolers are discouraged.

Tybee Island Fireworks

Join us for Tybee’s annual celebration of America’s birthday. Come early and plan to stay late as this is one of Tybee Island’s busiest days of the year. The independence day fireworks go off with a bang at dark, which is between 9:15 pm and 9:30 pm. The show is staged on the pier but is easily viewed from any of Tybee Island’s eastern beaches.
